Mr. Abowe serves as a Research Officer in the Environment and Natural Resource Governance Program. He supports the implementation of the Oil Governance and Environmental Sustainability in Uganda (OGESU) project. Daniel also supports the implementation of the Oil for Development project in partnership with WWF Uganda. He previously worked with TotalEnergies as an Environment and Biodiversity Field Officer responsible for ensuring that field operations comply with the national and international environmental laws and regulations. At the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Daniel worked as REDD+ Project Officer under conserving biodiversity by improving livelihoods project in greater Hoima. He was responsible for piloting selected REDD+ strategic interventions among natural Private Forest Owners, conducting socio-economic and biodiversity surveys in the Murchison-Semliki landscape. Previously, Daniel had worked as Programs Coordinator, Environmental Trainee, and Field Assistant with Voluntary Initiative Support Organization, WWF Uganda country office, and the Jane Goodall Institute in northern and Albertine regions of Uganda.Daniel holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science (Hons) degree from Makerere University and certificates in environmental training, climate change and natural resource management, social accountability, and project planning and management. Daniel has undertaken research, several capacity building assignments, and published several articles in print media.
